Calling all writers and science lovers!
Chuckanut Writers, a collaboration of Village Books and WCC Community & Continuing Education, is excited to be a part of Bellingham, Washington's March for Science with a science-themed writing contest! Show your love, support, and awe of the sciences in a short (350 words or less) piece of writing. Poetry, fiction, and non-fiction are all welcome. Entries will be judged on a rubric that includes originality, design and creativity, demonstrated writing skills, and relevance to contest theme.Contest finalists will be invited to read their short pieces during the opening remarks of the March for Science at Bellingham's City Hall on April 22, 2017. Participants must be available and on site from 12 - 2 p.m. on April 22nd to read their submission, or, if unable to attend, be willing to let their piece be read by a designee of the March for Science organizing committee. Semifinalists' and finalists' work will also be published on the Bellingham March for Science website and Facebook group.How to submit your work:
All entries must be submitted by midnight, Sunday, April 2, 2017.Write up to 350 words on the theme "The Importance and Beauty of Science." Poetry, fiction, and non-fiction are welcome.
